"I've Looked at Cows from Both Sides Now" - Where the two rivers meet, the Kaw and the Missouri. One side of the cow depicts the view from Kansas City, Kansas looking towards Kansas City, Missouri with the ever-present bottoms in the foreground. The other side is just the opposite. Looking from Quality Hill over the West Bottoms towards Kansas City, Kansas where the artist grew up. Walking around the cow allows the two scenes to merge together like the two converging rivers, making the two scenes one.
The image represents is that of the two cities, seen from both sides, looking at each other, something people do everyday and have since Lewis and Clark passed by. With State Line dividing the two cities physically, this cow shows how we are still one friendly, hardworking and communal metropolis. Two cities known as 'Cowtown!
