Title: Moo-nay's Garden
Location: Shawnee Mission Park
Artist: Diane Flynn-Yi
Sponsor: The Country Club Plaza

Moo-nay’s Garden is a play on words, referring to Claude Monet’s impressionist artworks and his love for gardens of flowers, including Kansas City’s native sunflowers. The cow canvass adds a dose of good humor, in addition to being a symbol of Kansas City’s stockyard heritage. It is this type of connection that the artist wants her students to make when looking at art; enjoying art for its ability to communicate meaning on may different levels. Moo-nay’s Garden is a piece that will add beauty to any location.

Artist Dianne Flynn-YI is presently an art instructor at an elementary school in Smithville, Missouri, where she teaches her students that art is a language, a form of communication, and that it can take many forms.

This cow was sold in the internet auction hosted by Amazon.com that began on October 5, 2001, immediately following the close of the live auction and ran for approximately three weeks.
