Title: Deaf Awareness - Visual COWmunications
Location: Union Station
Artist: Barbara Adams
The Students of the Kansas School for the Deaf
Sponsor: Accenture

Deaf Awareness – Visual Communication Cow was designed and painted by artist Barbara Adams and students from the Kansas School for the Deaf. They hope that their cow helps the community become more aware of their system of signs and finger spelled letters.

She is representative of all of the deaf children being educated in the Kansas City area. The cow’s spots consist of the finger spelled alphabet, and the cow’s horns are remolded to the sign for “cow”. The artists hope that their cow raises community awareness of their system of signs and finger spelled letters.

This cow was sold in the internet auction hosted by Amazon.com that began on October 5, 2001, immediately following the close of the live auction and ran for approximately three weeks.
