Title: Udder Confusion
Location: Country Club Plaza
Artist: Lynn Manos Huber Studio
Al Page
Sponsor: KMBC - TV 9

Some of us are ‘udderly’ confused. Udder Confusion has a second fiberglass udder that is attached to the front of the cow between the two front legs. The cow is painted in a realistic manner but the horns, udders and ears are hot pink. The design is inspired by the play on words of "utter confusion" and the idea that none of us, including the cow, know who we really are. “Are we confused by our multiple attributes and false notions of pneumatic beauty and, like Don Quixote, are we forced to wander forever looking for the truth? Or, on the other hand, are we and our cow just accidents of nature?” asks the artists.

Lynn Manos Huber is a regional artist who has lived and worked in the Kansas City area since 1971. She is an adjunct instructor at the Kansas City Art Institute. Al Page is a professor at the University of Missouri at Kansas City.

This cow was sold in the internet auction hosted by Amazon.com that began on October 5, 2001, immediately following the close of the live auction and ran for approximately three weeks.
