Bessie's Impressions of a Cowtown. The word "impressions" is important to this cow. Bessie is covered with "Impressionistic" paintings Kansas City landmarks and buildings---Union Station, Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art with Shuttlecocks, Kemper Museum of Art, City Market, Country Club Plaza, Jazz District, JC Nichols Fountain, Liberty Memorial, the Scout, the Pioneer Mother, etc... The work is executed in acrylic paints using the color palette and style of Impressionist painters Monet, Cezanne, Degas. (It even has an aged patina, like some of the impressionist's paintings from the late 1800's.!) “The work serves as a reflection of Kansas City's pride in our city and our delight in the arts, architecture, and landmarks of this city”, said artist Mary Beth Rieke.
