Title: Super Cow
Location: Country Club Plaza
Artist: Susan Van Well
Sponsor: The Sosland Family Foundation

Artist Susan Van Well is a 1997 graduate of The School of Art Institute of Chicago and is currently enrolled as a Painting major at the Kansas City Art Institute. She has exhibited in numerous shows over the past few years, including the Tom Thumb Gallery annual show, Pasta House Great Works of Art Competition (Honorable Mention), and the Olivette Art Show (Honorable Mention). She has worked as a scenic artist at the Muny Opera Theater in St. Louis and has been commissioned to do several portraits and murals.

It’s a seagull, it’s a helicopter, it’s Super Cow! In the artist’s words, “My intent for this design is to portray one cow’s imagination, a side of it that we do not often contemplate. What if, for a moment, we could be what we imagine? My cow allows her mind to run free and is able to play the way a child does…In her mind, as well as in her portrayal to her audience, my cow has stripes and can fly.”

This cow was sold in the internet auction hosted by Amazon.com that began on October 5, 2001, immediately following the close of the live auction and ran for approximately three weeks.
