Nobody on the planet eats more butter than New Zealanders, who consume 26 pounds per person each year. In the United States, however, butter consumption is spread pretty thin - only 4 pounds per year.

Title: Lady Cow-diva
Location: Washington Square Park-Pershing & Grand
Artist: Suzanne Andersen
Sponsor: Hearst Corporation

Danish artist Susanne Anderson has been drawing, painting and sculpting all of her life. Her inspiration for Lady Cow-Diva is from the old legend of the noble Lady Godiva from England, who wanted to make her husband reduce the heavy taxes he had imposed as lord of Coventry. He agreed to do so only if she would ride naked through town. She then asked all the townspeople to stay inside and rode through the streets dressed in nothing but her long hair. Well, she could have taken that ride on a comfortable cow too!

This cow was sold in the internet auction hosted by Amazon.com that began on October 5, 2001, immediately following the close of the live auction and ran for approximately three weeks.
