Title: Jazzily Blue
Location: Starlight Theatre/Swope Park/KC Zoo
Artist: Cindy Alkire
Alkire Studio
Sponsor: Starlight Theatre

Jazzily Blue is an extension of artist Cindy Alkire’s interest in Kansas City’s Jazz and Blues community. In an on-going musical series, Alkire has created original portraits of KC’s local and international musicians in clubs, and at festivals, as they have performed throughout the city.

The overall tone of cerulean blue, symbolizes The KC Blues. The patterns of written music, notes, and instruments (using yellow, blue’s compliment color), symbolize the vibrant and pure tones that showcase the versatility of Blues and Jazz musicians as they create the golden sounds that make Kansas City one of the coolest musical “hot spots” in the entire United States.

The artist is a member of several art societies and teaches art. She has received many awards and honors and maintains her studio in Overland Park, Kansas. Some local shows include: Prairie Village, Westport, Town Art Show, and Hidden Glen art festivals. Her works are in corporate as well as private collections and she exhibits throughout Kansas City.

This cow was sold in the internet auction hosted by Amazon.com that began on October 5, 2001, immediately following the close of the live auction and ran for approximately three weeks.
